Recently, I made an inquiry on "GOOGLE" about scanners- portable-digital cameras- document copy and I found a an article written regarding R&D at XEROZ in October 2002.
The article suggested that XEROX had in development a software program for a digital camera that could operate as a Optical Scanning Recognition (OCR/OSR?)
XEROX proposed a program that would be able to photograph wrinkled/curved/ripped paper and magically adjust them so that a digital photo could turn it into a readable document ( in the same manner that the OCR on HEWLETT PACKARDS CAPSHARE can)
However, when I called XEROX'S sales department and referred to the article; you would think I was speaking French.
The salesman quickly reminded me that all research and development ideas to not make the market. He did not sell such a product, nor had he heard of it at XEROX.
If anyone can take a digital photo and reproduce it to a readable document please let me know.
