It does sound like you are working in a difficult environment. Most of the abstractors and title workers around here are courteous and friendly. I have worked with two of them in the past to cover vacations and illnesses.
As to covering the company names, I really think that is only prudent. I don't want to tempt anyone to contact my accounts. For the most part, the order sheets are covered by my own report sheet. I use the back of the order sheet for notes. So the order sheet is seldom exposed. I wonder if the vendor management companies realize that one reason they may meet resistance to the use of their report forms is because we don't really want to advertise them to our competition?
I will admit to picking up a very good client when I listened to a new abstractor arguing with them over the public phone. She kept insisting that the borrower had acquired the property by deed of trust. (grin). The company order form was laid out in front of her. I called the company later that day and asked if they might need some help. He answered, "You won't believe how badly I need help in Lubbock".
