This is an excellent topic for discussion. We are seriously considering trying tablet PCs also. I'm not convinced that the hand writing recognition is good enough yet and our other concern is battery life. I know my examiners are very resistant to a laptop... they aren't typists and it seems too bulky to carry around the court house. I think it would slow them down too much. As we all know abstracting is a volume business, if the productivity goes down prices have to increase and I don't think the clients want to pay more - even if they have the advantage of working with text, rather than handwritten forms.
I would also like to know if others have tried tablet PCs and how it impacted their productivity. I am on the edge of purchasing one just to try.
Thanks for the question,
Robert.
