The other day.....I witness an abstractor photographing deeds/mortgages with a digital camera. We discussed camera as aCAPSHARE'S replacement. (since HP has not come up with another Information Device).
He said (I think)that he was using a 4 megapixel digital camera; Hewlett Packard software and Microsoft photo software to print out documents...... I did see the evidence. The documents were clear and clean as any CAPSHARE scanned document.
I tried to photo dox a few years ago with a 1 megapixel camera, but this did not produce the results I wanted.
Last year, I called XEROX and told them my problem, and they told me that such a device/software was 5 years down the road.
Photographing ( and re-arranging ) documents can be done, but the CAPSHARE has to be replace by a camera that is capable of OCR; at a suffient speed to make it worth while.
Like anything in the teck world....if you can dream...it can be done.
