There will always be those who are threatened by competition. Locally, we have a mix of attitudes. There are those of us who help each other, cover days off, help out each other when things get really busy, and share general industry concerns. But there are some who make it known that they don't want any part of that. Some people get pretty upset, and paranoid, around the competition.
To each their own. I trust most of the competition around here and we all work well together, but I have had a client stolen by someone who deliberately undercut my price. The client told me that they were solicited with a much lower price and they had to accept it. Needless to say, I will not be helping that person with anything in the future.
I guess my point is, there are all kinds of people out there, you just have to decide which one you will be. You will learn who you can share ideas with, who you can trust, and who you need to avoid.
Robert.
