We have had a grass roots rebellion going on with notary publics/loan signing agents. Several of us agreed not to take less than a certain fee for our services. I and some other notaries have turned down jobs because of what they offer. The last couple of weeks companies who refused to pay me what I wanted have called and agreed to the higher fee. That is the main reason why I have asked you all what to charge for title searches. I want to expand my business and I want to do it in a responsible fashion. The NNA set fee standards, they can not enforce them but we individual notaries can and some of us are. There will always be those willing to take less, but in the end the companies who hire them suffer from the poor quality of their work. They can not afford to do that. When it hits them financially they will come around. I personally feel it benifits us all to help newbies become the best they can be, hold them to a higher standard of work and pay.
