Thanks for the information Will. I think it is important to point out incidents that occur in our industry that give us a black eye. It appears that the abstractor in this case acted very unprofessionally, reglardless of whether or not payment was an issue.
I can understand not continuing to do work for a company that isn't paying, however the filings that apparently still haven't been filed could have been returned.
The company in this instance isn't blameless either, they should have noticed the problem much sooner and stopped sending more filings to that abstractor (just to look at both sides fairly).
