I also am a loan closer as well as an abstractor. I would really like to start a title comapany, I have finally hired someone that I think is dependable (so far)so that the pressure is off of us to where my husband and I can catch our breathe, but I do not want to put my "toe in the water" where I do not understand everything completely. It is hard to find someone to teach you the right way to start a title company without being #1 intimidated that you will be successful and #2 scared that you may be more successful than they are. Does anyone have any idea where I should start. I am already a licensed title producer in the state of Maryland which is a license to sell title insurance. I also am required to have this license to do closings in the state. You cannot be only a notary to do closings here. You have to be licensed and bonded along with hundreds of dollars a year in continuing education classes.
