Hi Mary, I see you post has been read numerous times and no one has answered you. Unfortunately SOT is not know for throwing out the welcome mat to "newbies". The actually claim never having heard the expression "newbie" before. Guess that is a notary term.
First off contact someone local to see if they might mentor you and help you with pricing. It appears to be different in all parts of the country. I would be glad to give you my rates in California but I don't think that would help you. Next, get a good real-estate term dictionary. Read as much as you can and ask lots of questions. Your notary E&O insurance probably will not cover your new business.
You will find a lot of people who will want to discourage you but if this is truly what you want than learn. It is not easy but it is not rocket science either. I will be happy to share any information and resources I have found with you.
What part of the country are you in? Is there anyone else out there that has more expearience willing to help this woman?
Judy
