Just read your post, and I know exactly what you mean. We cover thirteen counties here in PA, and while the majority of the "locals" at the courthouses we visit are extremely friendly and accommodating, there are a handful of searchers in certain counties who think they own the Recorder's office. They tend to group together in cliques, and see us "outsiders" as a threat to their business. I tend to think it's because they're afraid the competition will make them have to work harder to keep their clients happy.
If someone were to ask me to move out of "his/her spot", I would politely say to that person that, "I'll be out of your way as soon as I'm finished here," and then continue to complete whatever work I'm doing. If the person makes a scene, ask them, "Don't you think that behavior is rather childish?"
