I do retrievals also. I don't have to wait that long for copies, but for the small fee you make doing them, it's not worth it. You make a great arguement also. I'd like to get paid what I used to get paid for doing searches before all this competition came around and drove prices down. Now I struggle sometimes to pay the E&O fees, gas, and copies. My hubby gets upset if I have to dig into his paycheck to cover these costs until I get paid. We should all charge a minimum search fee at a higher rate. $90 for a current owner search is what we use to get, then it went down to $75, then $50, and then $35. Ridiculous! Consider what title companies are getting for title insurance and you know they are writing it on your $45 order! Closings are costing consumers $300 and more, and the title fees are high! We need to come up, especially since we are liable for everything!
