Charles - you and every other is endangered more. People who never lived in particular state are having charges made in that state against their credit cards. People who have been stalked and moved are stalked again and killed by finding things on the internet. This is just common sense - it takes a much greater effort if - it could even be done at all by the individual - to go to every county site in Texas than to drive to every county site in Texas to find the person they were stalking before than turn on a computer and do the same. It very much limits who might be harmed by public records. Just the fact that every check at the courthouses now have to contain a driver's license whether they know you or not says they are bearing down - luckily they take us researcher's drivers license once and just keep it. This is a new procedure in my counties within the last couple of months. When someone goes to the computer and gets information - no one knows who or what they are doing - go to the courthouse and start doing things alot and have no reason to be there - not a researcher, etc will cause suspicion and if it like at some of my county clerk's offices - they love to gossip - they WILL find out who you are and what you are doing! I myself, when running county to county never really got any information other than business but I have to admit since things are online - I like to know what my neighbor's house is worth - now I wouldn't do anything with any information I do look up but I'm not the stalker, criminal or terrorist that would and could.
