Personally, I think it is ridiculous that so many companies have their own requirements for searches. There are search standards that were created by the various bar associations and the real estate laws of each state that should dictate what should be included in a search. Using an experienced abstractor that knows both would eliminate the need to create such a set of instructions.
Often these companies require less than what should be done thinking that it will get them a lower price for the search. We don't do them - we follow the bar standards. Every search should be complete and thorough.
