Amy,

(for the purpose of clarification, when I say YOU in this post , I mean DATATRACE)

Facts are facts...I consider myself to be a fair person , so with that in mind, I have to be as impartial as I possibly can in spite of the situation.

Your company is obviously providing what title companies want /need so I can't argue that fact.

You offer municipal tax searches, upper courts, etc on top of the search product in all 21 counties.......

RIGHT NOW........(IMO) the only real reason a company would feel the need to switch is because they can get the above products through one centarlized loaction in ALL 21 counties.(efficiency)

As far as your search product goes..............I really don't see any major differences in what you do and what I do.........we both abstract for title companies EXCEPT...you have a promise of a future "product"...coupled with good marketing ..and marketing is everything.

My understaning is that it will be a subscription based service that will allow a title company, lender, etc to perform searches from thier own office from their own computer.......effectivley eliminating the need for an abstractor.

The searches will be completed from your title plant that you are currently building through your manual search process throughout the state.

Your plant is also built through your company buying microfiched records on a CD ROM from the various county clerks.

Your plant is also being built by your searchers requesting back title policies from us "other" abstractors...without reciprocating the favors.

Your company then takes the records for that week, sends them over to INDIA where it is then put into an MS ACCESS database and put into your title plant.

This is good business..this is free enterprise.

BUT.....BUT....... I don't have to agree with it and I will be outspoken about this.....Alot of people are being hurt. Some are in denial ..some are oblivious.

Some are my GOOD friends who have NOTHING else to fall back on.

I (and alot of others) simply don't like the way your company has approached the situation.(too bad for us though)

From the conversations I've had with various searchers around the state who are experts in this filed,  no one was ever approached by your company to open up markets.......your company chooses to TAKE the market away.

What I'm getting at here is this.........your company did not set out to find the BEST searchers in each county. Your searchers are OK at best. Very nice people, but JUST OK. I hear the questions they ask and I can't believe my ears.I feel bad for them sometimes because they bare the brunt of the negatives that are associated with your company.

I (and many others) feel like your company was sneaky .......

You got in with a local abstracting company(TGS)  with D_ _ G and D_N, used the contacts and resources of all the local independenats ..such as back title etc, to effectively take work away , build up a customer base and then sell it off to DATATRACE.

I'm also curious as to whats going to happen to alot of your searchers who are NOW helping you build the plant .Once the title companies start using the plant to do the search "in house", won't that cut down on a need for the 50+ abstractors you employ?

Amy...again I'm not directing this at YOU personally. These are concerns and fears that I hear EVERYDAY from people.

When do you feel the plant will be up and fully functional?
Is it going to be made available through a subscription?
Is it accessible to anyone wanting to use the system?

You wrote:
Here in NJ we do not "package" our product witth any other products or services nor do we use at as a loss leader.

Aren't you doing tax, sewer, upper courts? And isn't that part of the attraction?

I would really like clarification on these issues ..if I'm mistaken in my assesements, show me where.  Thanks

Sincerely,

Mark Russomanno

P.S....you wrote

"I truly wish you luck in your future endeavors. I received the resume you sent last week but unfortunately because of previous issues my hands are tied. I think if things were different you would have been a tremendous asset to our company. "

Just to be clear.....I sent the resume to see what your company offers in the way of salary, benefits for a person of my credentials...NOT for the purposes of employment.I sent resumes all over the place last week

I think the true-er statement would be....."You have too much experience for what we are looking for in an abstractor."

I could probably do the work of 3 of your searchers in half the time..
