Yes, you are right Lisa. There are very few counties that actually place the records online themselves or accept responsibility for the online records. Most often the records are placed online by third party companies that are fully aware their records are not complete or accurate and will not warrant that they are.
I think any abstractor who uses these sites should have a similar disclaimer. How can any abstractor represent his research is accurate and reliable when the information comes from a source that disclaims any statement of accuracy or reliability?
Can you imagine ordering a Pizza and finding a disclaimer inside the box. "Consume this product at your own risk. We make no claim the contents of this box are fresh, free of bacteria, free or toxins, or reliable as a source of nutrition. We do however guarantee to deliver the box in less than 30 minutes."
