Mark,
I wanted to thank you for this report. I found it very interesting. I look forward to seeing the results of your next mailing.
I hope you will reconsider leaving the business. The company you cite and others who have sought to make a commodity of the profession have taken so much of the market share without regard to the damage caused to the community and citizens of the market are about to face huge legal challenges to their methods. Their is legislation pending at the federal and state levels. The focus lately has been on Choicepoint but other companies are doing the same thing with the land records and they will likely fall under the same legislation. The information being sold by Choicepoint is also being sold by these other companies and in fact some of these companies may be providing a source for Choicepoint. Choicepoint offers asset and property reports as part of their service.
On the other hand, your services as a marketing consultant might be very helpful to many independent abstractors here on SOT. I know of nowhere else we could find someone who is knowlegeable in the title industry and has your skills, education, and experience in marketing.
I was wondering as I read your report, if you might have received the same results with a different target? Do you think the results would have been the same if the target had been financial institutions for example? Or individual investors seeking infomation prior to making a bid on foreclosed property as Lisa Ramsey has suggested.
You didn't mention in this report what fee you were offering in the price based message. The reason I bring this up is because I wonder if some might have initially responded to a low price but might have inquired into qualifications before employing your services. If this is true, wouldn't it be hasty to disregard those companies that responded to the price message?
I would like to discuss this further with you here in the forum and possibly offline we could work together on mailings for Davick Services .
