This thread is really timely. Today I went to Yahoo's homepage and found that the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times have articles in their newspapers about this same issue. They were in the March 1 papers. Then Yahoo has an article featured but those featured articles change hourly so you may not be able to view it by the time you read this posting. But I thought ... how up to date and on top of things the people who post are.
It is happening around here too. An attorney friend that I contract with was in a state of shock two days ago when I went to his office. He had just found out that a cottage he had owned in Wrightsville Beach, NC... that he had just sold seven months ago.... sold this week for a million dollars more than what he had sold it for. The value of that property did not increase a million dollars over seven months. No changes were made. A property at Carolina Beach, NC (actually Kure Beach but no one knows where that is), valued at $73,000.00 just sold last week for 400,000.00. Oh the things we as abstractors get to see!
