In this case, there were no open Deeds of Trust/Mortgages on the one owner search - which, at our company anyway, begs to continue on back another owner. We continue going back as far as it takes to get to a WD/PMM at the very least. After all these years, one thing I have learned is that very few people can purchase real estate and not have to borrow money. Do many of you just stop at that one owner because it is ordered as a "one owner" search? Or do you do the responsible thing, and continue until there is evidence of prior search work (such as a previous loan by a reputable lender)? I would think a WD/PMM is the very least that would be necessary and I think most would agree with me.
