Unfortunately, I know some abstractors who have managed to hang on for more than 10 years that I wouldn't trust with one of my searches. I have picked up clients from some of them and have seen their searches - we have had to re-do some of them. It just seems that with the recent "boom" there have been a lot of new companies popping up that haven't noticed the problems yet.
One client I picked up due to problems with their former abstractor actually went back to him for a better price. They had such a high turn over, that there was nobody there that remembered the last claim they had to pay.
Experience doesn't always tell the whole story...
I hope you make 30 years too. In fact, I hope we all do.
