There are some advantages to storing data through a web based system, though I understand your point of view. I kind of like having everything here in the office. However, they often have redundant data stores - like one in Texas and one in Virginia. Even a natural disaster wouldn't cause you to lose your data.
The other nice thing is you don't have to do the backups yourself and make sure you keep one of them off site in case of a fire. I tend to be lazy occasionally, and I know that is when my office will go up in flames. Its Murphy's Law, or something.
Just so you know - I haven't taken the leap to a web based platform either. I use SoftPro on my local network. Though I must say I was really impressed by the Streamline ASP demo.
