Communicating with the underwriter is a good idea. I have been told by underwriting council at one of the major underwriters that they want to know if one of their agents is not paying their bills. It is a big indicator of much larger problems. With all of the defalcations that have happened recently in our industry, the underwriters will probably appreciate an "early warning" sign. It will give them ability to do an audit before the problem becomes a massive defalcation.
