The idea that global warming is causing increased hurricane activity is scientifically unsound. Even if one accepts the premise that human activity is warming the atmosphere to any significant degree (which I do not), the effect would cause the polar icecaps to melt, thus forcing colder water into the equatorial regions of the oceans. This would result in less hurricane activity, not more.
The fact is that solar flare activity has more to do with the warmer ocean temperatures which are causing more hurricanes this year.
Let's face it...human beings are not powerful enough to cause global climate change.
As far as the levees are concerned, you are correct. The technology exists to build them stronger, and that needs to be addressed. I just hope that environmental regulations don't prevent that
from happening.
