Tammy,
the link to the Code of Regulations is right below the link to the Code of Ethics on the web-site, but here is a link anyway http://www.naltea.org/code_of_regulations.pdf
This circular arguement that is being put forth is not serving any purpose. NALTEA has already put together a certification program that is getting it's final touches. No one else has a certification program, but you say NALTEA has done nothing. NALTEA has been working with an E and O provider to get lower insurance, been working with a health insurance provider to get lower health insurance (which is very difficult since members are across the nation), putting together an educational conference, but you want more.
Do believe you will ever be satisfied with anything NALTEA has done or will do in the future? I wonder.
The Mission Statement, Code of Regulations and Code of Ethics speak for themselves.
No NALTEA can not enforce some one to run their business a certain way, it is not a government department. It is an association with members with common goals and desires, agian all of us will not agree on everything. Yes someone can file a grievce against a member. Yes it will be dealt with, up to and including termination of their membership. But again NALTEA is not an association bent on punishing abstractors, we have enough of that in our industry, we want to help bring abstractors up.
Hey there are only a few volunteers that run this association, we have a businesses to run too. Robert has law school, SOT and VersaTitle, Smitty has Blue Granite Title, Rick has Property Research, Wanda with Accusearch and I have Bi-State Title Search. The committee chairs and members have their businesses as well. We have to make a living too.
How do expect NALTEA to grow and help you out, if you are not willing to put forth the effort to help? You want it to change, then join and change it.
