It's great to keep the offices open so those of us that absolutely need to go can go. You are EXACTLY right about cleaning up before and after you use any of the machines, books, tapes, etc. Wear your gloves before you sit down to work, pull tapes, etc. Greet each other every morning with a smile or a wave hello if your are a county employee & come in early when the researchers are there. No one should be treated badly because the offices are open to the regular researchers. None of us want to get sick. None of us want to make anyone else sick. I, personally, wash my hands BEFORE I leave the ROD's Office or any other office that is open. Everything in my car has been cleaned over & over. Those of us that came of age in the 60's & 70's finally need to follow the "Sign! Sign! Everywhere a sign!" & do what it says. :)
