Not only do I check probate for a decedent's, incompetent's, etc. estate, I look at marriage licenses where a female takes title in her own name. If she has married, I check the recorder's office and clerk's office for possible liens and suits.  Furthermore, a person's name change application is filed in probate court in accordance with Ohio Rev. Code Section 2717.01. Surely a name change impacts a title search.

I believe that this conforms to the "Search Standards of the Columbus Bar Association Effective April 29, 1977" which, in my opinion, are the most comprehensive standards in the state.
