You might want to take a look at the expanse of territory of which you are speaking with respect to Iran if it enters the frey. Who is the U S going to depend on ...NATO...the U. N. ...I think not. We have already seen their position when the war in Iraq began three years ago. The last individual to successfully defeat opposition in a territory this size was Alexander the Great, and he did it by incorporating the indiginous population to his side. I don't see any Arabs or Iranians prepared to do that.
