Sounds like you're out around Elvis' old stompin' grounds.  My family's from Dolly Parton's neck of the woods, lol!

My Papaw Perry was a lineman with IBEW Local 760 and worked in Oak Ridge in WWII when it was part of the Manhattan Project.  Did your daddy work there during the war as well?  Who knows, maybe they were working buddies at one time or another.
