Jay: I have proposed a more reasonable pricing schedule in the past on the forum also- but never got any feedback from that. I feel we are the only ones involved in the total transaction that is not inflation protected by set prices- we should charge the same way the realtors, lenders, loan officers & title insurance agents do, as a percentage of the transaction. If the deal is for a $250k refi then a reasonable title fee might be $150-200 in the present market. that being the case we should set a number of 0.0008- that would give us $200 for that transaction- if it is too high right now- drop it down a little, but once it is set, you don't have to worry about the increases in title fees anymore- you don't hear the realtors complaining they are being short changed!!!
