I don't think that I have heard more ridiculous generalizations than this post and the one to which you are responding since Li'L Abner went out of print. There are elements of both liberal and conservative thought in both the Democrat and Republican parties. If I am not mistaken we generally rely upon rule by the majority within our political system. Unlike the Communist and Nazi Parties (Although at opposite ends of the political spectrum), I do not think that absolute adherence to a monolithic party line is required for membership in either the Democrat nor Republican parties. There is room for dissent within each party. Whether that dissent becomes party policy depends upon the majority view. There is also the impact of cultural experience and its effect in regional, state and/or federal systems.
I think that a less circumscribed thought process is required. Generally it is best to consider all of the options and input in arriving at a conclusion rather than formulating the conclusion first, and considering only the options that support the preconceived idea.
