Good evening, Mr. Grandon,
First, thank you for your reply. From the context of the posts at the beginning of the thread and from your introduction, it appeared to me that the companies being contacted were being sent orders “out of the blue”, if I may borrow your phrase. I appreciate the clarification.
Second, a couple of points. I believe the premise of my original question was misstated. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten “irritated” by a company asking for information about our services. We are always happy to consider new business relationships, in fact we actively pursue them here on Source of Title and through other means. I do, however, find it “a bit presumptuous” for an unknown prospective client to assume that my company is desperate enough to blindly accept work from anyone who faxes us an order without being put through a thorough vetting process.
When contacted by a new company, we follow a standard procedure before any work is performed. You may be surprised to learn that not all companies who contact us become clients of ours. There have been occasions that I have had to say “no, thanks” to a potential customer for one reason or another. It’s not that they aren’t good companies, they’re just not a good fit for us.
Not all companies are “paying clients”—one only need view the General Discussion forum to find numerous complaints of “deadbeats” and “abstractor-hoppers”. Our screening methods are designed to weed out such potential “problem children”. That is not to say that we have never had to deal with slow-pay or no-pay clients, but I believe that overall, the process has minimized our exposure in that area.
So to review, we don’t mind you asking us out…we just want to get to know you a little better before we let you take us to the dance.
Best regards,
Scott L. Perry, President
