Janis- If you look back to the 5th of this month you will see this is Lynn's second post on this subject and the basic HUD-1 has been the topic of a number of posts- I believe we all "care" , the real question is what does changing the lines and removing the line titles do for our situation- unless we, as title examiners and abstractors insist on having our fees clearly listed on the HUD- 1 ,which should be the requirement of all of us- that way we know ,and so do the customers know, what was paid for our services- not those inflated dollar amounts that presently show up- a lot of people think we make a fortune just from the HUD-1 numbers.
I have sent my clients a notice that my fees are what they are- and there has been a lot of controversy about them being inflated by unscrupulous settlement firms and or vendors- to maintain honesty in these transactions it is required by them to show my fee on the appropriate line NP the HUD-1 , with no additions to it- since it is a violation to add to fees without doing any "core title " work .
