The "system" is undergoing change now and has undergone great change in the past. Nations exist where there are no property taxes and America was once one of them.
This post does not speak to the core idea of the Project Open Records, but it does defend the status quo by saying, in essence, "it's always been this way, so don't challenge what is, and learn to accept the power of the state in administering this system."
In point of fact, this system, contrary to your last assertion, can be changed by the voters directing such change. Prop. 13 did so, not too many decades back.
