Loretta is so correct. In my county, for example, if you use the civil index available, how do you even know what the thru date is??? There is no thru date posted online. The civil index is way behind the land records index, and if you don't GO to the county, how do you even know how far they have typed the index into their system?
Also in my county, there is a VERY IMPORTANT index of liens that do not appear in the civil index because it has always been handled through land records.
So if you're doing Maryland work online, BEWARE. Hope you have your E&O insurance up to date, because you'll need it to kick in!
