Wow, I get home and take a look at this, and the posts have doubled! It seems as though an election is coming up soon.
I am a Republican voting for Obama. I supported McCain eight years ago. A good friend of mine, a died in the wool Democrat changed his registration that year just to vote for McCain in the primary. McCain had spent many years arguing against the current Republican idea of ignoring the deficit. As Dick Chaney said at the time "Reagan taught us that deficits do not matter".
I really wanted to support McCain again this time, but he has moved too far in pandering to the extreme wing of the party for my taste. Palin as VP is, to me, a scary idea. Not for lack of experience, but for her extreme positions on energy and evolution.
There seems to be an issue with some folks regarding Obama's experience in government. I would suggest reading about the background of Abraham Lincoln. Arguably, less than Obama, but I think all would agree a good president.
I am more concerned with some of my local races. The Frankin County Probate court could be lost by the incumbent Republican due to the Democratic advantage we are expecting here. That would be a terrible loss. We have a close US House race that I would hate to see go to the Democrat. She is a county commissioner now, and to my way of thinking, just an awful person to work with. Basically, with from what I have seen, a 3% chance of McCain winning, it is long past the time to worry about the presidential race. Republicans should have been more focused on the lower candidates on the ticket.
