On NotaryRotary.com there is a post by a real estate agent, who also closes mortgage loans, that he started doing title searches by learning from an on-line course. He claims to charge $40 for a foreclosure limited title search on the internet from his home and is getting quite a bit of work.
You can check that site to post if he will share his fee service agreement.
I don't see how GA abstractors can survive at $40 per search; however, if you don't have to leave your desk and your E&O insurance coverage is reasonable, I suppose it's profitable.
