Matt, they told me that "due to the increase in claims", they were forced to go up. It took me a few years to even find a State Farm agent who knew anything about their E&O insurance. They kept telling me that they had no coverage for that. But, when a friend went to work for them, she researched it and found it.
I even moved my home/car insurance to State Farm when I got my E&O coverage from them. I have since moved it to another company due to the increase in the E&O.
If you will check the posts from back then, you will see my agent even got on SOT and made several posts and answered questions.
I was totally embarressed that I had encouraged others to move to State Farm. My coverage amout only went up a fraction, that next year, and I did not add employees. I was previously with TIAC and had to pay the ALTA fees again to be re-instated. It was not worth the move.
