You might be right.
It's not so much that people are necessarily ignorant, just misinformed, IMHO.
But, if they are misinformed, they are ignorant of the true facts. I don't mean to imply that all voters are stupid (though I am convinced that many are), but as a whole they are not qualified to make important decisions, whether it is due to misinformation, ignorance, or an intellectual deficiency.
And, you are absolutely correct about...
I think that most people get so busy raising families and living their daily lives that it's hard for them to focus on the issues to the same degree that you and I do.
That is all the more reason that we should not trust the masses to make policy. I am a huge believer that if you aren't going to take the time to really understand the issues, you should not vote. There are a lot of opinions about health care (and many other government plans), and people often get very upset about them. However, unless they start educating themselves before they go to the polls, we will see much worse legislation in the future.
