What "Rebublican obstructionism" are you talking about? There aren't enough Republicans in Congress to obstruct anything. I'd say the President's problems have more to do with the inept leadership in both of the Congressional chambers, combined with the fact that over two-thirds of the electorate wants nothing to do with a government-run healthcare system.
