If free health care is a "right," (assuming for a minute we'll totally disregard our U.S. Constitution) should not we be entitled to free food...free adequate transportation...free acceptable housing? Why stop there--should we not be entitled to acceptable employment...clothing to wear to work...lunch money (oh yeah, food should be free)...stone cold foxes for husbands/wifes?
Point is, where do we stop? The Constitution says nothing about empowering our federal government to mandate health insurance. Are we no longer a nation controlled by the rule of law? If so, show me the Constitutional mandate to provide health care. This is NOT a power specifically set out for the federal government by our founding fathers, so what we have here is states' power.
We provide the best health care in the world...few would argue that point. Our issues with health care lie with its skyrocketing costs, insurance regulations and federal restraint on free competition, lack of tax incentive for individual policies, and tort reform. If we address those things, our health care system will remain the elite of the world!
