I just had the exact same thing happen to me with a client. They told me that they would not pay for copies anymore, and they wanted me to abstract the court cases instead of providing copies. I told them basically the same thing you did and politely declined. Have not recieved any orders from them since. I just hope they pay for what I billed them for February work and that I don't get stiffed. That happens way to often nowadays. I think we all need to just say no.
