Well it sounds like you really don't want these folks for clients anyway.  Do they think they are your only client?  That you have nothing else to do but wait around and see if they need you on a daily basis?  Seriously, I am about fed up with that way of thinking and believe me I have a number of clients who seriously that I only "work for them"
