I still recommend considering a high resolution (+12.5 megapixels) digital camera.  The Canon and Olympus brands are less than $200 each and allow you great flexibility in taking pictures in multiple formats and converting to other formats with no problem.   The bonus flexibility of being able to handle property inspections, image maps, or take document images in high resolution made our digital camera the perfect replacement for our old scanners, Polaroid, and fax machines.
