I think she should notify her insurance carrier immediately. I have seen them use the timely notification clause in policies as a means of denying the claims. The policies usually require that the insured use the law firm of their choice. While consulting with her own attorney may be a good idea to give her some idea of her liability, the insurance carrier is probably going to insist on the attorney of their choice to represent her
