With the current wave of foreclosures increasing numbers of animals are finding themselves abandoned or deposited at animal control centers (Pounds) where they are euthanized after 30 days. The Connecticut Humane Society in Meriden, Ct has teamed up with the pound to alleviate the situation.
The Humane Society does not euthanize these animals. To the extent that they have room they accept animals from the pound to save them from euthanization. However, their room is limited. I was out there on Saturday and they were jammed with people trying to drop animals off. They could not accept them because they had no room available.
I am trying to organize a network of people who would be interested in taking these animals on a temporary basis (fostering) until they can be adopted permanently. If you would be interested in participating in fostering please contact me.
