We also charge for updates. Of the 15 Counties that we service, only 1 has total on-line access, so for every other county we have to drive to the county courthouse to update the report. The closest county courthouse from our office is 22 miles away, so for one update there is at least a half hour drive to the courthouse, the courthouse time to update the report and check the exceptions on the report for changes, and then the half hour drive back to the office. For this amount of time, no client should expect this service for free. For the client that is telling you that you are the only one charging for updates they are trying to get something for nothing.
