I could appreciate your wit William if it weren't so depressingly true.
I took the quiz in the link and scored a 9/10 I missed the Slavery question, I think I was partially right, but I digress..
In my Eutopia every student would be required to take American History throughout Middle School and must not only take Government but Civics classes in high school. In my Eutopia, students would be required to take a citizenship exam once they turn 18 prior to being able to vote.
We as a Nation have cheapened and taken for granted what generations earned for us. When a vote can be swayed by a meaningless and nebulous slogan of "yes I can", it is a death of not only intelligence, but a step into the abyssal plain of conformity.
In my Eutopia, children would have to re-earn what was handed to them on a silver platter by enlisting in either the Military or Americorps type organization for two years before being able to attend College. Too many times young idealist show up to college and drink away their parents hard earned savings so they can only return home and shamefully attend their local community college in between flipping burgers or waiting tables all the while reaking of failure and complacency.
There is no honor anymore in our children, there is no sense of pride, there are first place ribbons for everyone today just for showing up. The bar has hit the ground so I don't believe it can go any further.
There is only one place the blame can be laid............................
p.s. No offense to Community College Grads, without them many lower income people would never have hope or chance of a higher education, it was mentioned only in making a point.
