Hey Michaela. You know I love ya. But I think the point you are missing are these companies, like NTC, already do the work online. They send us the work they cannot do online or they do not trust the online index, and it is imperative the search is done at the county using the official records. Liability is at stake. If an assignment is missed that is not on the online index and they prepare a new assignment or release with wrong information, then that is an issue and threatens their relationship with their client. Therefore, they send the work to us to do in the county. We at ABC have always taken pride in the fact that our researchers actually go to the county and we market that to our clients. (If we find out researchers are doing work online and do not have anyone that actually goes to the county, we discontinue work with them or remove them from the counties in which they do not actually travel. This is for liability reasons.)
We've never had an issue with researchers doing preliminary work online, but completing the search at the county. The service fees charged by our researchers include travel to the county. So, if you are not traveling to the county to complete the work, maybe you can discuss with your clients a product of doing online searches only and offer a discounted fee to your clients for staying home.
With that being said, I know you are a great researcher and go to the county. It's a shame that NTC wouldn't even hear you out. We used to work for them for years, but when they moved to FLA, everything changed with them and our relationship mutually dissolved.
Just know we love ya here at ABC. I just wish we had more work to send at this time. :(
xoxo
Michelle
