I believe that experienced title examiners make logical candidates for the office of Register of Deeds in their community. Best of luck! As far as questions to ask your opponents, perhaps you could ask questions that demonstrate your familiarity with the office while hopefully exposing your opponents lack of similar knowledge, by asking your opponents what they would do to reverse some of those changes in the Register of Deeds office that have frustrated you-- particularly any changes that they probably don't know.
