[-] It should be common sense in 2014... - Slade Smith/OH (3 replies)
1/30/2014 2:06:24 PM (2057 views)

....that posting self-serving commericial messages on an internet discussion forum is frowned upon.  It is a form of spamming.  But, a few still insist on posting their unsolicited marketing advertisements in the Source of Title Discussion Forum.  These messages are especially puzzling, considering that 1,) our posting etiquette policy politely requests "please, no commercial, self-serving posts in the general forum"; and 2.) we provide other forums such as "Marketplace" for this purpose.

It usually falls on me to move or delete these posts, and that will especially be the case going forward, as Robert has an especially heavy workload starting this month.   I have lots of other duties too, and there are few things I hate more than having to move around posts.  So these posts to the discussion forum will be deleted as the spam that they are when I come across them.  The exception will be posts which show the incompetence of the spammer in an unintentionally humorous way.  Those, I might allow to stay.

EDIT:  I accidentally deleted a spammer's thread, which I intended to leave up on the site.  The spammer was soliciting for search business in Arkansas counties.  Only problem was, all the counties he named were in Alaska.  My apologies to the users who had replied to that spam and pointed out the spammer's incompetence.
