Probate Court has now been moved from it's old location on Federal Street, to Shetland Park Industrial Park (just around the corner from the Registry of Deeds).
Getting probate files is an agony. I don't know what the problem is, but the wait times are incredibly long. To take some of the pressure off the counter clerks, Pamela Casey O'Brien, the Registrar of Probate sent a memo with some new options for case ordering. Following is an abstract of her memo of May 16th.
*In order to better serve the public, the following procedure has been implemented to request files in advance through email...
Please email your requests for files before 3 pm for next day pickup to:
pamela.casey-obrien@jud.state.ma.us
terri.klug-cafazzo@jud.state.ma.us
annette.gemellaro@jud.state.ma.us
wade.sutherland@jud.state.ma.us
The subject line should read: FILE REQUEST
The body of the email should include: case docket#/case name; your name/address/phone#
NOTE that unlike Worcester probate, it is not a requirement that an email be sent the day before, but speaking from personal experience, it is a much longer wait than it ever was before to get a probate file, so this might be useful, especially for those of you coming from out of town to work on a title.
